Terms of Service

By accessing or using Canvas AI Checker (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use immediately.

These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service, including students, educators, and institutional users.

Canvas AI Checker provides AI-generated text detection as a self-check tool. Users submit text, and the Service returns a probabilistic score indicating the likelihood that the text was generated by an AI model.

The Service is provided free of charge for basic use. Some advanced features may redirect to a third-party partner platform. Those services are governed by the partner’s own terms.

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Submit content that violates applicable law or the rights of third parties
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract the detection model or API
• Use automated tools to send bulk requests that degrade service performance
• Misrepresent detection results as definitive proof of AI authorship in any formal proceeding
• Use the Service to harass, defame, or make false accusations against any individual

Institutional users deploying the Service as part of an academic integrity workflow are responsible for ensuring their policies comply with applicable student rights laws in their jurisdiction.

This is the most important section of these Terms. Please read it carefully.

By using the Service, you acknowledge:

• A high AI-detection score does not prove that text was AI-generated
• A low score does not prove that text was written by a human
• Results must not serve as the sole basis for any academic disciplinary action, grade reduction, or formal allegation of academic misconduct
• Canvas AI Checker is not affiliated with Canvas LMS, Instructure, or any educational institution

We strongly encourage educators and institutions to combine any detection tool with contextual review, student interviews, and other indicators before drawing conclusions.

All software, design, trademarks, and content on Canvas AI Checker are the property of the Service operators and may not be copied, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.

You retain full ownership of any text you submit for analysis. By submitting text, you grant us a limited, transient license to process it for the sole purpose of returning detection results to you. This license terminates immediately upon completion of the scan.

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Canvas AI Checker and its operators shall not be liable for:

• Inaccurate detection results and any consequences arising from reliance on them
• Academic penalties, disciplinary proceedings, or reputational harm resulting from misuse of results
• Interruption, suspension, or termination of the Service
• Loss of data submitted to the Service

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you paid (if any) to use the Service in the preceding 12 months.

We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

For significant changes, we may add a notice to the homepage for 30 days.
